Art Attack created a two-part installation, accompanied by four performances.
The project was comprised of two sculptural tunnels which explore the transfer of light, air, and spatial elements between two rooms and three buildings.
The sculptures represent stations for observation, rather than physical passage. the sculptural tunnels contextually replicate the complex underground venting system of Snug Harbor and exist as both objects as well as temporary fixtures in the continuing reconstruction of the Cultural Center.
The opposing passageways are situated in adjacent rooms, one formerly a dormitory bedroom, the other a bathroom. These rooms, devoid of their former functions, accentuate the emptiness of this once immense community. The tunnels investigate and present infinity and imprisonment as one, through vision and darkness.
